2021 GOG Awards Nomination Package

Nominations are now open for the 2021 GOG Awards!

Galeries Ontario / Ontario Galleries (GOG) has proudly celebrated excellence in Ontario’s public art galleries through the annual Awards program, a keystone event in our cultural calendar. For the 44th GOG Awards, we are focused on the excellence, innovation, and resilience of our sector.

Similar to last year’s awards, we are announcing a limited Call for Nominations. However, we have added two more categories: Exhibition of the Year Budget over $20,000 and Public Program Award!

Nominations are now open for the following Awards:

  1. EXHIBITION OF THE YEAR/EXPOSITION DE L’ANNÉE: Budget over $50,000
  2. EXHIBITION OF THE YEAR/EXPOSITION DE L’ANNÉE: Budget over $20,000
  3. EXHIBITION OF THE YEAR/EXPOSITION DE L’ANNÉE: Budget under $20,000
  4. EXHIBITION OF THE YEAR/EXPOSITION DE L’ANNÉE: Budget under $10,000

Recognizing exceptional and original curatorial and artistic achievement, supported by technical excellence in exhibition design and installation. This includes exhibitions presented online.  Both monographic and thematic exhibitions will be judged in the same categories.

  1. PUBLIC PROGRAM AWARD/PRIX DU PROGRAMME PUBLIC

Recognizing other remarkable and innovative curatorial programs originated and developed by staff or contract employees or teams for a public audience. The nominated event, performance, screening, lecture or other form of public engagement does not need to be directly associated with an exhibition, but illustrates excellence in audience and artistic achievement. The program/project can take place online, outside of the gallery or be part of an ongoing series

  1. CHANGEMAKER BIPOC AWARD/LE PRIX DU CHANGEMAKER BIPOC

Recognizing Black, Indigenous and People of Colour arts leaders for their distinctive and outstanding contributions to BIPOC communities and to the public art gallery sector of Ontario. The award recognizes an individual changemaker who champions voices from distinct social and political contexts and advocates to change policies and procedures that address social equity and anti-oppression.

  1. LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD/PRIX D’EXCELLENCE POUR L’ENSEMBLE DES RÉALISATIONS

Recognizing an individual working (or retired within the past year) who has made a sustained and extraordinary professional contribution to the Ontario public art gallery community over at least 25 years of active service.
